Classroom Policies
Classroom Rules:
Our classroom has 6 rules that we all follow each and every day.
#1 ~ Listen when someone is talking.
#2 ~ Follow directions the first time they are given.
#3 ~ Treat everyone with kindness and respect.
#4 ~ Take care of our school and classroom.
#5 ~ Work and play safely and quietly.
#6 ~ It's okay to make mistakes.
Behavior Management:
Negative Choices ~
If students are not following the classroom rules, they will be talked to by Mrs. Wedel and given a warning. If they continue to break a rule, they will be asked to move down on the clip chart. If the negative behavior still continues, the student will be asked to move down to the bottom spot on the clip chart. Moving to this spot will cause the student to miss a portion of their Friday reward recess. Mrs. Wedel will also contact the student's parents. Students do have the opportunity to move back up the clip chart if their behavior significantly improves. If they are asked to move up (and do not end the day on the bottom of the clip chart), they will not have to miss Friday reward recess and Mrs. Wedel will not contact their parents.
Positive Choices ~
If students are following the classroom rules and going above and beyond the expected behavior, they will be asked to move to the top spot on the clip chart. Moving to this spot will earn the student a leader ticket. Leader tickets will also be sporadically rewarded to students who are showing leadership qualities in the classroom.
Weekly Reading:
Students need to read at least 80 minutes each week. The reading minutes must be recorded in their planners, at the top of the second page for each week. Please initial below their reading minutes. Minutes will be checked on Fridays. Therefore, minutes on Friday and the weekend will count towards the required minutes for the following week. Students will record their total reading minutes each week in their digital Leader Binders and keep a running total for the year.
Homework:
Green homework folders will be sent home each night and are expected to return the next day. They will contain any homework or notes you need to look over. Please help your student keep these folders clean.
Planners:
Please sign your student's planner each night after checking for homework. These will come home each night and should return the next day. I will check for signatures every morning.
